VetBonds: Providing the link between people, animals and the veterinary profession
VetBonds is a project from the Affinity Foundation Chair in collaboration with AVEPA, ADVANCE and ELANCO dedicated to bringing together scientific knowledge and practical advice on the bonds that form between people and animals. Through the dissemination of information, education and research, VetBonds also aims to support veterinary professionals in the handling of these bonds, promoting their wellbeing and strengthening their role in society.
How did VetBonds come about?
The creation of VetBonds arose as a response to various problems that affect vets, veterinary nurses and many pet parents. Many vets and veterinary nurses feel that they don’t receive the recognition they deserve, both from their customers and society. In addition, veterinary professionals face high levels of work-related stress. Difficulty in communicating with customers is another constant challenge.
We are intending this project to offer an integrated perspective encompassing all these areas: from clinical nutrition and animal welfare, to the handling of the vet-customer relationship and the prevention of work-based stress, from a holistic standpoint and with an unerringly scientific base. Our objective? To dignify and strengthen the social value that vets have, highlighting the crucial role that they play in their work with pets, families and the veterinary profession.
