The Affinity Foundation and Ultima join forces with the SPA to promote responsible adoption.

The Affinity Foundation is celebrating a historic agreement with Ultima in Spain to promote the responsible adoption of dogs and cats. We will also be working with the SPA in France to support responsible adoption and, in addition, we will be conducting a nationwide study on the abandonment and adoption of dogs and cats in France.

In Spain, the Affinity Foundation and Ultima, an Affinity Petcare brand leader in animal food and welfare with over 20 years of experience in the sector, have agreed to collaborate on supporting pet adoption, raising the awareness of pet parents in order to avoid abandonment and publicising the benefits of the bond between people and dogs and cats. Find out about Ultima’s #Máshumanos campaign, in which we talk about the benefits of our bond with our pets and adoption.

And in France, together with Ultima and SPA (the Animal Protection Society, a leading French organisation founded in 1845), we have agreed to provide advice to families and people who want to adopt pets and to publicise the benefits of the bond between people, dogs and cats in society. We are united by our love and respect for animals, and on this basis, we will work to ensure that adoption creates stronger, healthier and longer-lasting relationships.

This is why, for the first time in France and with the help and experience of the SPA, we are conducting a study on the causes of abandonment and the contexts of pet adoption, similar to the ‘He wouldn’t do it to you’ study that we have been conducting in Spain for nearly thirty years.

In the words of the president of the SPA, Jacques-Charles Fombonne, “We have been extremely mindful of Affinity’s commitments. It was a long process of learning how this company works, which opened its doors to us with total transparency, including a visit to its French factory in La Chapelle- Vendômoise. Beyond the dependability of Affinity in the development of animal foods, what convinced us was the Group’s commitment and the data from its studies that seek to understand the relationship between humans and animals. This is an opportunity for us to understand the causes of abandonment. We need to tackle this behavioural and social issue head-on, so that we are not only fighting the effects of abandonment, when it is already too late, but also working towards a more responsible adoption of dogs and cats.”

At the Affinity Foundation, we are supporting Ultima’s #Máshumanos campaign, an initiative that shows us animals’ power to awaken our deepest emotions and bring out our more generous, empathetic and sociable side. The campaign is part of the agreement the Affinity Foundation has reached with Ultima to support and publicise the benefits of dog and cat adoption and the emotional bond that unites us with our pets. Our emotional bond with pets makes us feel better, helps us live in the present and gives us a strong purpose. Find out here why dogs and cats make us #Máshumanos.
