Affinity Foundation, Ultima and SPA, united with a common goal.

Fundación Affinity, Ultima y la SPA, unidos por un fin común

The Affinity Foundation, together with Ultima and the SPA (the Animal Protection Society, a leading French organisation founded in 1845), has drawn up a collaboration agreement to advise families and people who want to adopt pets, and to publicise the benefits of the bond between people, dogs and cats for society. We are united by our love and respect for animals, and on this basis, we will work to ensure that adoption creates stronger, healthier and longer-lasting relationships. The initiative seeks to generate change in society, promoting the idea that adoption not only provides a second opportunity for animals, but that it also strengthens the relationship between humans and their pets, creating an emotional bond that contributes to both their wellbeing.

A New Initiative in France

The Affinity Foundation, Ultima and the SPA, one of the oldest and most respected organisations in the country, have joined forces in France to promote responsible animal adoption. Founded in 1845, the SPA is a leading animal protection organisation and its collaboration with Ultima and the Affinity Foundation seeks to provide advice to families interested in adopting dogs and cats, ensuring that adoption is a responsible process.

Our agreement centres not only on promoting adoption, but also on publicising the benefits of the bond between people and animals in society. It highlights that the promotion of more solid and lasting relationships between pet parents, dogs and cats contributes to a healthier environment for all.

A Pioneering Study on the Abandonment and Adoption of Animals in France

For the first time in France, the Affinity Foundation, Ultima and the SPA are conducting a nationwide study on the abandonment and adoption of dogs and cats. This study, which follows in the footsteps of ‘He wouldn’t do it to you’, a study on abandonment and adoption that we have been conducting in Spain for almost 30 years, aims to analyse in-depth the causes of abandonment and the contexts surrounding the adoption of pets.

“Beyond the dependability of Affinity in the development of animal foods, what convinced us was the group’s commitment and the data from its studies that seek to understand the relationship between humans and animals. This is an opportunity for us to understand the causes of abandonment. We need to tackle this behavioural and social issue head-on, so that we are not only fighting the effects of abandonment, when it is already too late, but also working towards a more responsible adoption of dogs and cats.”

Jacques-Charles Fombonne, the president of the SPA

Jacques-Charles Fombonne, the president of the SPA, highlighted the importance of this project: “Beyond the dependability of Affinity in the development of animal foods, what convinced us was the group’s commitment and the data from its studies that seek to understand the relationship between humans and animals. This is an opportunity for us to understand the causes of abandonment. We need to tackle this behavioural and social issue head-on, so that we are not only fighting the effects of abandonment, when it is already too late, but also working towards a more responsible adoption of dogs and cats.”
