The Affinity Foundation – pioneers with our own intervention model

Texto alt

At the Affinity Foundation we are pioneers in the development of Animal-Assisted Therapies in Spain.

Since 1992, we have designed and implemented the only programmes of their kind in Spain, working in a wide variety of areas: in prisons, supporting victims of child sexual abuse, women who have suffered gender-based violence, children in care, anti-bullying programmes in schools, in hospitals, including ICUs and many more. With over 30 years of experience and dozens of programmes, we have helped over 100,000 people.

Our unique operational model

The focus of our work is based on an integrated vision of animal-assisted interventions. We work in an interdisciplinary way with health and education professionals, forming teams and sharing knowledge in order to continue improving every day.

One of our guiding principles is to be led by high ethical standards, both in dealing with people and animals. In addition, we publicise the benefits of the human-animal bond through informational campaigns with each intervention. And, through our Chair, we evaluate all our therapy programmes to understand the benefits that animals bring first-hand.

Tailored techniques and a committed team: the foundations for our success

We are extremely proud of our team of professionals, who are experts in the handling of different health conditions and populations, as well as in canine behaviour. Incidentally, all the animals that take part in our programmes live with our technicians and professionals to ensure their welfare.

We work with different techniques such as coaching, systemic therapy, raising groups’ energy levels, using humour and more, always prioritising the emotions of the people and animals we are working with.

At the Affinity Foundation, we have always viewed relationships with animals as collaborative and positive, acting as role models for all our users. We respect the character of our animals, ensuring that they are involved in the type of programme that is best suited to their characteristics.
